Intro to Pickleball Sessions

We offer “Intro to Pickleball” sessions throughout the week so you can come out and give the sport a try! You just need to wear athletic clothing and court shoes and show up 15 minutes before the start time.

We provide the paddles and the balls. You will learn about paddles, safety, shoes, how to hit the ball, how to serve, player positioning, some basic rules, and then play a game or two to understand how the game is scored. We also discuss Court Reserve and how to view our calendar of events.

Please register ahead of time – send an email to [email protected] or call 904-598-4055.

Bootcamp Series

A bootcamp series consists of 1 two-hour class a week for 4 weeks.  Students register for all 4 classes at one time.  Each week, a student will receive 1.5 hours of instruction followed by 30 minutes unstructured game play within the student group.

Classes are limited to 8 or 12 students (4 per court).

  • Bootcamp 1 is for players just learning pickleball up to the 2.5 skill level.
Work on basic skills such as Serves & Returns, Forehands & Backhands, Volleys & Dinks, and Court Positioning & Strategy.  Learn drills to practice a skill; how to implement the skill in a game scenario, and incorporate the skill into actual game play. Rules of the game, scoring, and player etiquette are introduced and reinforced each week.
  • Bootcamp 2 is for players in the 2.5 to 3.0 skill Level range.
Develop next level skills such as 3rd shot and 5th shot drops and drives, Blocks and Resets, Lobs and Overheads, and Court Positioning, Strategy, and Partner Play.  Learn drills to practice a skill, implement the skill in a game scenario, and incorporate the skill into actual game play.  Rules of the game and player etiquette are explained and reinforced each week.

Skills Clinic

These two-hour sessions are scheduled a few times throughout the month.  Players can register for a clinic and join a group of 8 to 12 players to work with an instructor.  A clinic will focus on specific skills with drill repetition and gameplay scenarios.   Clinics are organized by skill level – 2.0 to 2.5; 3.0-3.5; and 3.5 to 4.0.

A player will receive 1.5 hours of instruction followed by 30 minutes unstructured game play within the student group.

Play with a Pro

“Play with a Pro” is a lesson type is for a small group of 3 players to work with an instructor for one hour on the skills of their choosing.  The instructor will also evaluate the players current skills and abilities and make recommendations for improvement.

Players can sign up as a group and request a date/time for a lesson with the Pro.  Each player group would be organized by skill level – 3.0, 3.5, or 4.0.

Private Lessons

Private lessons, also known as “Book a Pro”, can be set up by 1 or 2 players to work with an instructor for one hour on the skills of their choosing. For example, a doubles team might request a private lesson to work on shot making strategies and court coverage.  The instructor will also evaluate the players current skills and abilities and make recommendations for improvement.

Players request a date/time for a lesson with the Pro.

We use these general categories at Nassau Pickleball 365:

Newbie – Haven’t played before. We encourage everyone to take an “Intro to Pickleball” session at least once. In this session, you will be assessed as to what your next steps could be in your pickleball journey. We do set up play sessions just for Newbies so these players can start working on their game and meet other players with similar abilities.

Beginner (2.0-2.5) For players who are new to the game. Players will help remind each other of the rules and how to keep score as they play.

Recreational (2.5-3.0) For players who are comfortable with the rules of pickleball and may be relatively new to the sport or just like to play socially.

Intermediate (3.0-3.5) For players that are ready to take a step up from Recreational play and who have solid shot making and are developing strategic play.

High Intermediate (3.5-4.0) Competitive players with well-rounded abilities that are developing consistency and accuracy.

Advanced (4.0+) For players interested in high-level competitive and challenging play.   Advanced (4.0+) sessions are restricted to players who have verified ratings at 4.0 or above.  Verification: UTPR, DUPR, Skill Rating assigned by a Certified Instructor.
